Common questions
- Why isn't my favorite slice shop on the Slices list? The guides list only places we checked by hand against a 2025 or 2026 source. The rest of the 61,100 restaurants are in the directory and the web search. Tell us about a place and we'll check it.
- Where do the grades come from? In New York City, from the NYC Health Department's own records, with the date of each grade. Elsewhere there's no official grade; the app shows the latest state inspection's date and counts, or in Suffolk County the violations cited in 2025. Erie County publishes no inspection data in bulk.
- Lists don't sort by distance. Allow location for New York Eats in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services, or in your browser for this site. Your location stays on your device.
- How do I delete my saved places? In the app, tap Save again on a place, or delete the app. On the web, clear this site's data in your browser.
- Does the app work offline? Yes. The whole guide is built into the app; only Apple Maps' live place cards and directions need a connection.
